Frugal Fall Fashion Finds

October 11th, 2016

Since we are now in fall we are packing away all the summer dresses, shorts and breezy shirts (If you're like us in Chicago). It is time to wear sleeves and light coats but switching your wardrobe doesn’t have to be expensive. Now is a good time to bargain shop and get some new clothes for fall.

Buy Some Basics

One great tip to maximize your money is to buy some basics. Perhaps a couple of cardigans or sweaters in solid autumn colors that will give you multiple looks depending if you pair them with leggings and tall boots or jeans and short boots. On the subject of boots you can purchase one or two in a medium brown that goes with both dark and light clothes. Then all you need are a few accessories, a light scarf or long necklace to finish off the outfit.

Look Out For Deals!

As the summer clothes are now on clearance you can look for some great deals. You can buy some summery shirts in neutral colors that you can wear with a cardigan to transition them into useful fall shirts. Below are a few great websites to check out for deals:
  • - you are able to search for specific types of items you need that are on sale.
  • - there are various categories on this site as well as hand-picked top deals.
  • - you can even create deal alerts on this site.
  • - updated very frequently; look here for the latest deals.

Nice as New

As you are going through your closet you will find clothes that you just don’t fit or you don’t wear anymore. There are stores you can take them and get some cash and then you can keep the cash or use that to find some new gently used clothes to update your look. If you don’t have any clothes to trade in you can still check out these shops to see if there are any gems hidden for a great price. You can get double or triple what you would at a normal retail store.

Remember these tips as you do some fall closet organizing and look to update your wardrobe for the fall. You don’t have to have a large budget to make a large impact on your look!
